Daily Devotional
Read: Luke 24:36-49
The first words that Jesus says to His disciples according to Luke are: “Peace to you all.” Unfortunately, the disciples did not feel peace in their Lord at all. Instead, they were startled and frightened. Jesus proves to them that it is really Him. But the true test is that He eats in front of them, proving that He is still the Son of Man. He is truly well again. When people are dead, appear to be ghosts or sick, they are not hungry. Jesus was hungry. He is truly alive again!
What God says, happens. We can trace this truth all the way back to Genesis when God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:3 - “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and light became.” God promised Abraham that He would make him a great nation; and He did. God promised Moses that he would lead the people of Israel to the promised land; and He did. God promised the prophets that He would send a Savior to rescue them; and He did. Jesus promised the disciples that He would die and rise again on the third day; and He did. The disciples were witnesses to what had happened to Jesus. And now, Jesus promises something else, the promise of the Father.
Jesus did not only promise these things to the disciples. He promised them to us too. As His followers, we have been given the same promises that God gave the people in the Bible. What was written, what we read, what we hear are living words sent by God, for us. We are witnesses to the great and mighty things that happened over Holy Week. We, like the disciples, have the gift of the forgiveness of sins; and we trust that what God says, happens. Even if sometimes we are startled and afraid - we can always remember the words that Jesus offered His disciples and us: “Peace to you all!”
Please pray: Dear Heavenly Father: thank you for keeping Your promises. Thank you for being a source of security for us when all we see around us is chaos. We have been witnesses of Your great work of raising Your Son, Jesus from the grave. Continue to give us peace in Him, so that we can give that peace to others through knowledge of You. Amen.

Las primeras palabras que Jesús dice a sus discípulos según Lucas son: “Paz a vosotros.” Desafortunadamente, los discípulos no se sentían la paz en su Señor para nada. En vez, estaban aterrorizados y asombrados. Jesús prueba a ellos que de verdad es Él. Pero la prueba verdadera es que come delante de ellos, para probar que todavía es el Hijo de Hombre. Está vivo otra vez. Cuando la gente está muerto, nos parece ser fantasma, o está enferma, no tienen hambre. Jesús tenía hambre. De verdad es vivo otra vez!
Lo que Dios dice, pasa. Podemos rastrear esta verdad todo el camino por Génesis cuando Dios creó los cielos y la tierra. Génesis 1:3 dice - “Entonces dijo Dios: ‘sea la luz,’ y fue la luz.” Dios prometió a Abraham que le hiciera una gran nación; y lo hizo. Dios prometió a Moisés que guiara al pueblo de Israel a la tierra prometida; y lo hizo. Dios prometió a los profetas que mandara un Salvador para rescatarles; y lo hizo. Jesús prometió a los discípulos que padeciera y se resucitara otra vez al tercer día; y lo hizo. Los discípulos son testigos de lo que pasó a Jesús. Y ahora, Jesús les promete algo más, la promesa del Padre.
Jesús no sólo les promete estas cosas a sus discípulos. Nos los promete también. Como sus seguidores, las mismas promesas son dados a nosotros como a la gente en la Biblia. Lo que fue escrita, lo que leemos, lo que escuchamos son palabras vivas, mandadas por Dios, para nosotros. Somos testigos a las cosas grandes y poderosas que pasaron durante La Semana Santa. Nosotros, como los discípulos, tenemos el don del perdón de los pecados; y confiamos que lo que dice Dios, pasa. Aunque a veces estamos aterrorizados y asombrados - siempre podemos acordarnos que las palabras que Jesús dijo a Sus discípulos y a nosotros: “Paz a vosotros.”
Favor de orar: Querido Padre Celestial: Gracias por guardar Sus promesas. Gracias por ser una fuente de seguridad para nosotros cuando sólo vemos el caos. Hemos sido testigos del trabajo grande de resucitar a Tu Hijo, Jesús del sepulcro. Continúa darnos la paz en Él, así que demos esta paz a los demás por sabiduría de Ti. Amén.
