Daily Devotional - Palm Sunday
Read: Matthew 21:1-17
Normally, the section we read in church would be the first eleven verses of this chapter on Palm Sunday. But since we are further apart, we have a greater opportunity to read more of the Bible. According to Matthew, all of these events happened on the same day. We already know all about the donkey. We know about the palm branches. We know about the shouting and spreading of the people’s garments. What is hard to follow sometimes is the order of events during Holy Week.
Notice that in both of these readings for today, the triumphal entry and the cleansing of the temple, that they include the words: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” This phrase connects these two stories, showing that they happen on the same day. Even though the cleansing of the temple is normally considered a time when the chief priests and the scribes become indignant, this account is much more positive. Jesus directs the people to prayer. He also directs the people to listen to the faith of the infants and children.
So our lesson for today comes down to three things: Jesus is LORD in the Highest, Jesus directs us to prayer, and He urges us to listen to the faith of others. How can we combine all three of these things? The answer is simple: observe and practice. “Hosanna” in Hebrew is based off of the verb for “He saves”, the name “Jesus” is too. At the beginning of Holy Week, we observe how Jesus knows what we is doing as LORD. He heals the blind and lame - He does wonderful things. We practice the power of prayer. We also observe the faith in others that we read about in the Bible. Although this Holy Week may be the oddest in our lifetimes, God can still do mighty things through His Word. But the only way His Word is effective is if we read or hear it. Stay in His Word and learn what God has in store for you this week.
Please Pray: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD! Hosanna in the highest! Dear Jesus, thank you for always pointing us to the Father. Thank you for accepting our meager praise. Thank you for cleansing Your Father’s House. Thank you for reminding us to look for the faith in others to inspire us. Thank you for loving us. Keep us in Your Word this week as we journey with You to the cross. Amen.
Devocional Cotidiana - El Domingo de las palmas

Normalmente, la sección que leemos sería los primeros once versículos de este capítulo por el Domingo de las palmas. Pero, porque estamos más lejos, tenemos una gran oportunidad para leer más de la Biblia. Según Mateo, todos de estos acontecimientos pasaron el mismo día. Ya sabemos del asno, las ramas, las proclamaciones de la muchedumbre, y el tender de sus mantos en el camino. Lo que es difícil a veces es el orden de los acontecimientos por la Semana Santa.
Presta atención que en las dos lecturas para hoy, la entrada triunfal y la purificación del templo, incluyen las palabras: “Hosanna al Hijo de David!” Esta frase conecta estos acontecimientos, y demuestra que pasaron el mismo día. Aunque la purificación se considera una vez cuando los principales sacerdotes y los escribas se indignaron, este acontecimiento es más positivo. Jesús dirige a la gente que ore. También dirige a la gente que escuche a la fe de los niños y los que maman.
Así nuestra lección para hoy se reduce a tres cosas: Jesús es SEÑOR en las alturas, Jesús nos dirige a la oración, y Él nos urge que escuchemos a la fe de los demás. Cómo se puede combinar estas tres cualificaciones? La respuesta es simple: observa y practica. “Hosanna” en Hebreo es basado en el verbo para “Salva,” también es el nombre: “Jesús”. Al comienzo de la Semana Santa, observamos como Jesús sabe lo que hace como SEÑOR. Sanó a los ciegos y cojos - hace la maravillas. Practicamos el poder de la oración. También observamos la fe en los demás que leemos en la Biblia. Aunque esta Semana Santa será la más rara en nuestras vidas, Dios todavía puede hacer las maravillas por Su Palabra. Pero, la única manera que Su Palabra sea efectiva es si la leemos o escuchamos. Quédate en Su Palabra y aprende lo que tiene Dios para ti esta semana.
Favor de orar: Hosanna al Hijo de David! Bendito el que viene en el nombre del SEÑOR! Hosanna en la alturas! Querido Jesús, gracias por siempre dirigirnos al Padre. Gracias por aceptar nuestra alabanza magra. Gracias por purificar la casa de tu Padre. Gracias por recordarnos que veamos a la fe de los demás para inspirarnos. Gracias por amarnos. Guárdanos en Tu Palabra esta semana mientras viajamos contigo a la cruz. Amén.
