Read: 1 Peter 1:1-12
We are going to be reading through 1 Peter next week. In Peter’s final words in the Bible, he has grown a lot in the faith since his days walking with Jesus. Instead of focusing on himself, as Paul so often does, Peter focuses on the fact that Christ is no longer physically with His disciples. Notice that Peter writes this letter specifically to the “elect exiles of the Dispersion” all over the known world at that time. Peter desires to tell them that God the Father has known about their exile since the beginning of time. He says this to them in order to comfort them. God knows what they are facing on a daily basis. And instead of fear, Peter says, “May grace and peace be multiplied to you.”
Through our baptism, the disciples and us have been been born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. God has promised us His inheritance that will never be broken. Our inheritance is so sure that it is guarded for us through our faith, that God Himself gives us. It is in such knowledge and feelings that we are told by Peter to rejoice. He reminds the elect exiles that their faith will be tested. However, their faith is more precious than anything that can be found on earth - the gold that perishes. Instead, our faith will produce in us the salvation of our souls.
In reality, we are lucky when it comes to our faith. Not only will our faith, that Christ has given us through His Holy Spirit see us through - but it is a faith that the prophets longed to see, and what angels long to look. We trust the words spoken by Peter about Christ because he saw Jesus with his own eyes. His trustworthy testimony of God becoming man, suffering, dying, and rising is how we are connected to the Word of God itself. Yes, God foreknew the problems that this world faces everyday. However, our faith in Christ is more precious than any earthly treasure.
Please Pray: Dear Jesus Christ, thank you for rising from the dead. You knew that we were unable to do so. Even though we know that we will be tested in our faith, we confess that sometimes our testing is hard. We fail to rejoice in the greatness of faith that you have provided for us. Renew our hearts, to see You as the outcome of our faith, as our true salvation. Amen.

Leeremos por 1 Pedro la semana entrante. Sus últimas palabras en la Biblia nos demuestra que ha crecido mucho en la fe desde sus días con Jesús. En vez de enfocar en sí mismo, como Pablo, Pedro se enfoca en el hecho que Cristo nada más está con sus discípulos. Anótete que Pedro escribe su epístola específicamente a los “expatriados de la dispersión” por todo el mundo conocido a ese tiempo. Pedro desea decirles que Dios el Padre había conocido sobre su exilio desde el comienzo de tiempo. Lo dice así que se lo de confort a ellos. Dios sabe lo que van a enfrentar cotidiano. Y en vez de temor, Pedro dice: “gracia y paz os sean multiplicadas.”
Por nuestro bautismo, los discípulos y nosotros hemos hecho nacer de nuevo en una esperanza viva por medio de la resurrección de Jesucristo entre los muertos. Dios nos juró su herencia que nunca será rota. Nuestra herencia es tan cierta que está reservada para nosotros por nuestra fe, que Dios nos da. Es con esta sabiduría y estos sentimientos que estamos dicho por Pedro que alegramos. Él recuerda a los exilios que su fe será probaba. Sin embargo, su fe es más preciosa que lo que sea encontrado por la tierra - el oro que perece. En vez, nuestra fe producirá en nosotros la salvación de nuestros almas.
En realidad, tenemos suerte en relación a la fe. No sólo nuestra fe, que Cristo nos ha dado por Su Espíritu Santo llevarnos por peligro - pero es fe que los profetas inquirieron y la que los ángeles anhelan contemplar. Confiamos en las palabras dichas por Pedro sobre Cristo porque él vio a Jesús con sus propios ojos. Su testimonio de Dios hacerse en hombre, sufrir, morir, resucitar es válido y es la razón de que estamos conectados a la Palabra de Dios. Sí, Dios preveía los problemas que el mundo se enfrenta todos los días. Pero nuestra fe en Cristo es más preciosa que ningún tesoro terrenal.
Favor de orar: Querido Jesucristo, gracias por resucitar de entre los muertos. Ya sabías que no podíamos resucitarnos. Aunque sabes que estaremos ser probados en la fe, confesamos que a veces nuestras pruebas son difíciles. Nos falta alabar en la grandeza de nuestra fe que Tú nos ha proveído. Renueva nuestros corazones para ver a Ti como el resultado de nuestra fe, como nuestra salvación verdadera. Amén.
